The BPC’s top priority is safe pilotage in Washington state. We are working toward making Washington state pilotage physically and psychologically safe for all individuals. We believe that such individual safety stems from a culture of trust, engagement, and belonging. We also acknowledge that this safety is impaired due to the bias, inequities, and barriers that are systemic and persistent across the maritime industry. The BPC accepts that achieving and maintaining the culture we strive for will take investment, accountability, habitual practice, and a long-term, enduring commitment.
